To keep or not to keep.
One site that have been preserved by the Singapore government is former Supreme Court and City Hall. Many moments in Singapore's history took place in the former Supreme Court or the City Hall. When the Japanese occupied Singapore, the headquaters of the Syonan Tokubetsu Shi (Municipal Administration) was set up at the Supreme Court. The surrender of the Japanese forces was accepted at the City Hall building. Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew and the members of his cabinet took their Oaths of Alligence and Oaths of Office in the City Hall Chamber. Singapore's first head of State, Yusof Bin Ishak, was inaugurated in the City Hall Chamber on 3 December 1959. The former Supreme Courts and City Hall are not just buildings from the past, they hold memories of the past and should be kept so that generations to come can see for themselves the monuments that are important to Singapore history and not only read them from books.
The National Gallery Singapore that was recently opened occupies the two national monuments; former Supreme Court and City Hall. I agree with the governments decision in not only preserving the buildings but also upgrading it to the National Gallery where the public can go to enjoy various exhibitions. The two building have been upgraded. To me, these buildings are just historical buildings that are important to Singapore's history but to those older than me, I'm sure that it holds a memory that they cherish. Perhaps they used to pass by the building everytime they went to school or work. These historical sites holds memories for certain people, thus i think that the government should preserve these sites so that the older generation won't forget the past and the future generation can get to know the past.

3 things I found out:
1. Singapore's fertility rate has dropped significantly over the years to about a rate of 1.2 children per family
2. Singapore had introduced "two-child policy" to help reduce the need of HDB flats within a short period of time as there were too many people who needed flats.
3. Singapore's two child policy ended because our birth numbers fell below replacement numbers
2 perceptions I have gained:
1. The one-child policy is not efficient as for every 2 people that die, only one person takes their place in society. Thus, the mortality rate would eventually be higher than that of the birth rate.
2. We should look at things from different perspectives. For example, I personally think that the one-child policy was not effective and should no have been implemented. However, the one child policy in China and the two child policy in Singapore has helped children to get better education.
1 Question I have:
1. Are there any other countries that have a policy like the one-child policy in China or the two-child policy in Singapore?

Reflection on Chingay 2016
The purpose of Chingay 2016 is to celebrate the legacy and wisdom of our founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and other founding fathers based on the core values advocated by them and pledging our support to live by it and move forward together to wards a Brighter future Singapore.
For the first Chingay festival, it was held on 4 February 1973. People's Association worked with the Singapore National Pugilistic Federation for a grand show in the Year of the Ox, depicting aspects of the Chinese culture like dragon and lion dances, martial arts and street opera. However, today, Chingay is no longer just about depicting the Chinese culture. Chingay is celebrated by all the different races in Singapore, Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians. Chingay is not only limited to Singaporeans. Chingay has also extended invitations to international artistes and troupes.
One of the many things that our founding Prime Minister always focused on was the racial harmony in Singapore. I think that the organizers have successfully fulfilled the purpose of Chingay 2016 as at Chingay 2016, age, race, language and creed are no barriers. Everyone worked together to make Chingay a successful one.
This is the first Chingay show that I have ever been to and it was a fun and enriching experience. Being able to see the performances that all the participants had worked up to put up made me feel a sense of pride. Singapore is one of the few multi-racial countries in the world and here, people from different walks of life and working and having fun together.

Reflection on happiness and poverty
Singapore is a relatively prosperous country, but are we a happy country? Does being rich means being happy? In my opinion, that is not the case. Of course being rich means that you are able to buy whatever our heart desires. However, there are things that money cannot buy and happiness is one of them. To me, happiness is doing something you enjoy, with the people you love. Often, people often judge your from your financial status. Most would think a rich man is living a happy life while those who are financially unstable are not living a happy life. I think that is just how society stereotypes people. If you are rich, you are happy. Someone who is not as rich may also experience happiness, doing what they enjoy with their loved ones by their sides. That is what I think true happiness is about.

Reflection on RV60
For me, the time which I felt proud of what all of us as a school had done for RV60 was during the preview we had for our parents. That was the first time we all came together and performed in front of such a huge crowd with proper lighting and costumes. At the end of that preview, when the audience clapped and cheered at the end of the finale was when I felt that all those long rehearsals we had, the times we had to rehearse under the hot sun had finally paid off. I think we are the only school which had such a big celebration to celebrate our 60th anniversary. After the actual parade when I arrived back home, seeing our school appearing on the news, made me feel proud to tell others that I'm from RV.

For the blog post where we were supposed to choose one place in school and talk about it, I have chosen the drama studio. I'm from ELDDS Drama and the drama studio is where I go every Tuesday and Friday for my regular CCA sessions. Of course my classroom would be where most of my time in school is spent but the drama studio holds special memories for me, like the many "circle time" we had in the dark or the times we bonded while cleaning up the drama studio or the many CCA sessions we had to prepare for our SYF performance or other productions. All these experiences helped me bond with my CCA members and these people have became the people I know I can always count on. If I have any problems,be it with my class or my studies, they would be the first I would approach for advice and I'll always be thankful to have them around. Besides having met my amazing CCA members, being in this CCA also helped me to be more confident in myself. To me, Drama isn't all about acting but it is about having confidence and not being afraid to express yourself. Often during CCA sessions, we had to voice out our opinions or ideas and present them in front of everyone. Like most people,at the start, I was afraid of getting judged by others, but I am grateful that my CCA batch mates and seniors were always accepting and cheering me on whenever I felt unsure of myself. ELDDS Drama has became a part of my secondary school life in RV and I will always be thankful to have been accepted into such a CCA and to have met such amazing people.

✨Self-introduction
My name is Trixie and I’d like to think I’m quite different from most people. I mean sure, I love One Direction and I’m still not over them taking a break, I’m addicted to Teen Wolf and I’m counting down the days until the premiere of Season 5B and I spend huge deal of my time surfing the internet and stalking people on Tumblr, but I’d love to think i have a proper life.
I quite enjoy being in the outdoors. Anyone who knows me would immediately start laughing, after all, I hate running especially under the hot sun and I don’t really play sports like tennis or basketball. But I quite enjoy trying to balance myself while attempting wakeboarding or the feeling of the wind blowing through my hair while skiing. I guess that’s just me.
I certainly love the fast-paced life in the city but sometimes, i prefer stepping away from all that and just, well, live. Sipping hot chocolate during a cold winter’s day and just watching the snow fall outside or just staying up with my cousins or friends until the early morning are some things I love to do.
